Item of the Week
Lavender Soap

Well, we have had enough of those April showers here in the Midwest.  So let’s bring on those MAY FLOWERS!  This week I am featuring my only floral soap at the moment.  LAVENDER!

Lavender has been used for centuries. One of the first civilizations to use lavender was the ancient Romans. The name itself comes from the Latin "lavare" which means - to wash.
Skin Care benefits:  It’s strong cleansing and germicidal effects make it valuable in the treatment of skin disorders and injuries The health benefits of lavender oil for the skin can be attributed to its antiseptic and antifungal properties. It is used to treat various skin disorders such as acne, wrinkles, psoriasis, and other inflammations. It heals wounds, cuts, burns, and sunburns rapidly as it aids in the formation of scar tissues.

Nervous system: I’m sure many mothers like me have used lavender soaps and lotions to help soothe and calm a cranky baby, especially near bedtime.  This aromatherapy effect is well known.  It can help in treating migraines, headaches, anxiety, depression, nervous tension and emotional stress.  It is often recommended for insomnia.
