150th Civil War Anniversary

My hometown had a Civil War anniversary celebration this past weekend. The weekend was full of speeches, battles, and games. Everyone attending was encouraged to wear period clothing.  I saw some amazing outfits.  I think the most shocking was Abraham Lincoln.  It was almost creepy!  I haven't ever seen such a wonderful impersonator of any character.
He had the perfect voice too, low and slow.  That's how I imagine ol' Abe anyway.
I wanted to run up to him and tug on his beard to see if he was real.

Lovin' that skirt.  Although I bet she didn't get to sit down all day!
My niece and daughters helped with the kid's games.  They LOVED getting to wear the dresses. Makes me think of Mary, Laura, and Carrie Ingalls...with the hair colors a bit mixed up.

A battle reenactment took place each day.  Check out the breast collar on the horse.  "Dances with Wolves" anyone?  Hmmm, that's not Kevin now is it!
Union campsites.  I wish I would have asked what the red star flag stood for.  Maybe the medical tent?  Anyone know?

Cool cannon.
One Union soldier down.  One Indian going down...slowly and eeeever so carefully.

So at the end of the day, the Union troops were victorious...again! Well thank goodness right?
